Bit of a cop-out this but, rather than me bowdlerize others’ publications to flesh out my two most recent but ill-informed posts, here are two useful references for anyone who wishes to follow them up:
for Saami art (and indeed all things Saami):
Kulonen U-M, Seurujarvi-Kari I, and Pulkkinen R (eds) 2005 The Saami. A Cultural Encyclopaedia, Suomalaisen Kirjallisuuden Seura (SKS), Vammala
(I can be so precise because I have acquired my own copy from the Saami Museum, Inari)
for Abstract Expressionism:
Hess B, Abstract Expressionism 2005, Taschen, Cologne/London
(several other books about Abstract Expressionism are obtainable from the RA in association with the exhibition but my reference is to one of the cheapest, most readily-available, short and authoritative books on the subject – a good starting point with plenty of colour illustrations including some of paintings, and better still some not, included in the exhibition)
Just for the sake of including an illustration, here is an image of a collage which, created before I knew anything about Abstract Impressionism, might well innocently qualify as being of that genre:

As this will be my last post of 2016, may I wish a better 2017 to my reader.
